Coast FIRE Calculator
See whether current assets can reach a retirement target with no further contributions.
Return and withdrawal rate are your inputs. This page does not supply either one.
How it works
The retirement target is annual spending divided by the withdrawal rate you enter. Assets needed today are that target divided by (1 + annual return)^years. The projected amount is current assets multiplied by the same growth factor. Compounding is once per year.
The return and the withdrawal rate are not filled in. A 4% withdrawal rate comes from historical research, including Bengen’s 1994 study and the Trinity study. It is not a law, and this page does not apply it unless you type it.
